The Santiago River Basin is located in the northwestern part of the Mexican Republic. It covers the states of Aguascalientes, Durango, Jalisco, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, and Zacatecas, with a route of 440 km. The main use of this basin is for agricultural purposes. This basin is made up of 13 aquifers. Of this basin, the sub-basins Río Corona-Río Verde and Río Calderón stand out.
